UI/UX Lead Designer

I was the design lead for the relaunch of SentrySafe.com. The goals of the redesign were to drive more traffic to our retailers, reorganize a product portfolio in a way that was more friendly to the end user, and to design a product page that showed off our product more effectively and drove consumers to buy our product. I also created a more flexible solution for various promotional pages. The launch was a success, as we began sending more users to our retailers to buy our product.

SentrySafe Gun Safes

While on the brand team at SentrySafe, we were challenged to create a new high end website that would launch with our new line of gun safe products. We worked with an outside photographer to create a fully responsive website with high end imagery of the product shot in up-scale locations in Western NY. I took on more of a leadership role with design, layout, and art direction, determined its interactive elements, site map, and functionality.

The Strength to Begin Again

A photo surfaced online following Hurricane Sandy that showed a couple standing in the midst of a devastated Beezy Point, NJ. They were opening a SentrySafe fire resistant files that had preserved their family geneology. We worked with a video crew to capture their story. I was the lead interactive designer on a team that turned elements of the video into a high-end website. This was an opportunity to build our brand, as well as show our consumer that our product works in the absolute worst of circumstances.

The Safe House

The goal was to be able to use it as a promotional tool to educate people about our products, as well as create some sort of interactive element to use in contests and promotions. This was a very fun project to work on. The challenge was to create an interactive feature that showcased where SentrySafe products might live within the home. My role in the project was to drive the overall visual design and feel of the project, while working with the development team to establish how users might interact with the house.

The Guardian

This microsite was created to support the launch of The Guardian, a fire resistant storage bin from SentrySafe. I was tasked with working alongside a development team and a photographer to create a website that showed off the benefits, and features, while at the same time ultimately selling the product. My goal was to make a site that was graphically appealing, but easy to navigate. I determined the layout and all of the interactive elements.

Disaster Video Challenge

The SentrySafe YouTube challenge was a promotional contest created to drive subscribers to our YouTube channel. It ran once a week for an entire month on SentrySafe.com. I filmed, edited, and produced 4 distinct product videos for this contest. I also designed all the promotional graphics, and the SentrySafe.com page layout. At the end of this, we were left with 4 distinct videos that we could then distribute to customer websites.

I created a lot of videos at SentrySafe that supported new product launches. Part of our video strategy was to provide videos to our customer websites (Walmart, Target) in support of our new product launches. This gave us a strategic marketing advantage over our competition. Creatively, this video was particularly challenging to create, as it needed to factor in several different video elements, and weave them together in a cohesive way, while maintaining a high end look.

The strategic goal for our videos were to create videos that educated consumers on our product, and to show people that our product worked in action. This is a highlight video of our product in action. This was originally used as a tool to show one of our vendors how strong our product was versus our competition. I show all of the footage for this, and edited it together.

My overall goal with all of the videos that I create for SentrySafe is to take steps that give our brand a bigger feel. I felt that one way we could do this was upgrade our bumper graphic that plays in front of our videos. I wanted to create something that reflected the dramatic feel of our packaging, while at the same time emphasizing our brand's fire protection. I created this from scratch in AfterEffects.

Safe in a Fire Live Internet Broadcast

Safe in a Fire is a live social media event that uses live streaming video, Twitter, and FaceBook, to educate and engage consumers. We also use it to build excitement for a product release through giveaways. With minimal budget, we've managed to use this event to trend nationally on Twitter. My role is to lend design support for the event landing page and social media channels, and to be the lead videographer for the event. I also edited together a promotional recap video for the event.

Customer Testimonials

Video Production and Editor

This was an internal project that was a major turning point for our marketing strategy as a company. We had our factory workers, engineers, and company executives read actual testimonials from customers and respond to them. After the completion and airing of this project, SentrySafe's philosophy, marketing strategy, and culture began to turn away from "We're a manufacturer of safe products", and evolved into what would become our slogan: "We provide peace of mind for a lifetime."

Water Protection Animation

Part of the SentrySafe video strategy was to create content that people view on their smartphone in front of the product in the isle. This video was used to explain how our water protection works, and entice people to buy our product. At one time, this was attached to QR codes on our product boxes.
